School Day

The classroom doors open from 8.45am to allow children to come in calmly and be ready for learning. Staff take the register at 8.55am and learning starts promptly.

In Year R and Year 1, the children do not tend to follow a strict timetable of lessons during the day, as activities and timings are shaped by their engagement in their learning. However, this is what a typical day may look like:

08:45 – Children may arrive at school.
08:55 – Registration
09:00 – 09:30 – Adult guided activities and focus jobs
09:30 – 10:00 – Phonics
10:00 - 10:45 – Independent Learning
10:45 – 11:00 – Break (snack time and milk)
11.00 – 12:00 – Independent Learning
12:00 – 13:00 – Lunch
13:00 – 13:10 -Registration
13:10 – 13:40 - Maths
13:40 – 14:30 – Independent Learning
14:30 – 14:50 - Collective Worship
14:50 – 15:15 - Storytime
15:15 – End of the School Day

Collective Worship

We have assemblies (collective worship) each day. Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, these are based in classes and are taken by either the Headteacher or class teachers. We celebrate a range of religions though our collective worship time, as well as reinforcing our British Values, school core values and celebrating our successes.

Our Friday assembly is a time to celebrate together what we have done well that week. Year R and Year 1 currently have separate celebration assemblies on a Friday afternoon.

As the school grows over time (and COVID-19 restrictions on mixing of bubbles are removed), on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays we will meet as a whole school for collective worship and on the other days we will have separate KS1 and KS2 assemblies. Our Friday assembly will become a whole school celebration assembly.
