Highlights of the week:

Phonics:

Our learning this week has focused on ‘th’ as in ‘think’ and ‘path’ as well as ‘ch’ as in ‘chair’ and ‘chick’. The children have been working hard to apply these sounds in their writing. We have also been encouraging children to clearly listen for these sounds particularly when at the beginning of a work such as the days of the weeks.

Highlights of the Week:

Thank you to everyone who joined us on Friday afternoon for our Chinese Lunar New Year celebrations. The children had a wonderful day and we are so grateful to Laura for teaching them some Chinese dancing.

Highlights of the Week:

Thank you for the riddles you sent in as part of last week's homework. We have enjoyed challenging the children with them! We are hoping to be able to bring the tablets out in a few weeks as part of our morning job so that the children can have some time to work on Numbots. Please can you let us know if you have lost your log in details.

Phonics

This week we have spent time revising ‘y, -y’ as some of the children were less confident with the sounds this letter can make during our assessment last term. The children have been reminded that this letter can make the sound for:
y - yes, yellow
-y /igh/ - cry, my, supply
-y /ee/ - sunny, body, crunchy

Highlights of the week

Phonics:

This week we introduce the children to the sound /air/ as in hair. The children have taken to this sound well and have been using it in their sentence writing activities. We have also reviewed some of our previous learnt sounds. We have been concentrating on sh and ch. Some of the children found these sounds a little confusing towards the beginning of the week but are making great progress and are noticing them in our everyday words. We are really pleased with how this new learning is developing.

We have continued our learning of split vowel digraphs this week looking at a-e, used in wake and shape. The children are really enjoying revising all of these letter groups and are noticing them in our everyday words. We are really pleased with how this new learning is developing.

We have continued our learning of split vowel digraphs this week looking at o-e, used in smoke and rope. The children are really enjoying revising all of these letter groups and are noticing them in our everyday words. We are really pleased with how this new learning is developing.
