Highlights of the Week:

We continued to enjoy the lovely weather this week by spending time outside working on our directional skills. The children are slowly mastering left and right and enjoyed being robots out on the field moving to our commands! Mr Hammond even set up a grid on the playground for the children to navigate making sure they avoid the ‘trees’!

Highlights of the Week:


We have been working on word reading with the children and we are putting together some real and alien word lists based on the letter groups the children are not as confident with. We will be sending these home early next week to help your children prepare for the phonics screening.
The weather has been so lovely this week that we were able to have both of our P.E sessions outside. On Wednesday morning we set up sports day activities for the children and they thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Thank you to those of you who joined us for our open afternoon this week. The children have been working really hard on their information books and were looking forward to sharing them with you. The children looked fabulous dressed up for the occasion!

Highlights of the week:

We had a fabulous time at Portchester Castle this week. We are so proud of the children for showing our core value of respect to all of the members of the public. The grown ups in the church were especially complimentary about how well they had all listened to the lady who had taken her time to show us around the church.

Highlights of the week:

Topic:

Our topic for this term is all about monarchy and power. The children will be researching different monarchs, looking at the role they played for their country. We will be having a dress up day on the 5th May to coincide with our parent event. The children have been talking about the different ‘character’ they could be, a servant, queen, knight, jester or perhaps maybe a horse!

Highlights of the week:

Phonics:

We have been looking at ‘ew’ making an /oo/ sound as in ‘drew’ and ‘screw’ and an /yoo/ ‘new’ and ‘stew’. The children have been working very hard on hearing the differences between the sounds.
After the Easter break we will be targeting the sounds we have already looked at that the children may need a little more practise with.

Highlights of the week:

Please can you continue to encourage your children to play Numbots at home, it would be lovely to see more Year 1s receiving certificates in assembly Therefore, we have set the children a challenge of increasing that number before the Easter holidays! Good luck!
