Highlights of the week:

In English this week, we have been estate agents and have been trying our best to sell an Iron Age roundhouse.  We looked at sales brochures of house’s today and we also looked at an example roundhouse sales page. We discovered that it was important to show all the amazing features and persuade people to buy the roundhouse.

English

In Maths this week, we started a new unit on length and perimeter. Our focus this week was using a ruler to measure in both centimetres and millimetres. We also discussed when it would be best to measure in metres. We tried to measure the classroom with our 30cm ruler, it took far too long!! We then used the metre stick to measure, it was so much easier and more accurate.

Our enquiry question for this term is ‘Can anywhere be home?’

In History, we focused on the Bronze Age. We looked at the key events that happened in the Bronze Age and put them onto a timeline. We then discovered that the Bronze Age was special because it was the first time metal was used in Britain.

In Science this week, we were looking at muscles. We looked at how muscles worked and that there are two different types of muscles. We learnt that It takes 43 muscles to frown, and only 17 muscles to smile.

In Spanish, we have been learning to ask “How are you?”. We then used this question to build up the conversation. We now know how to greet someone, ask them their name and ask them how they are.

Home learning:

  • Please make sure you are reading with your child at least four times a week and commenting on their reading in their reading record book.
  • Your child has come home with a list of spellings, which we will practise on Fridays. Please can you support your child with learning these during the week.
  • Now we have TimesTables Rockstars, please support your child to access it online. It is recommended that children play TTRS for 5 minutes a day for maximum impact.
  • PE days for Year 3 are Friday (outdoors) and Monday (indoors).
  • On Tuesday lunchtimes, the children have the opportunity to take part in lunchtime sports clubs. They can bring spare kit to change into for the club. Next week is Cross Country.
  • Our library days are on Thursdays, please can you make sure your child has their library book to return or renew. We have a few overdue books, please could you look for these at home, so your child can take home a new book.
