Highlights of the week:

In English this week, we wrote a story based on ‘The house that once was’. The house in the story was empty. We decided that the people that used to live in the house were now shipwrecked on an island. We wrote a story telling the owner's story. The children came out with lots of different ways they could have been shipwrecked. There were sea monsters, angry sharks and violent storms. All of the stories were great to read.

By the end of the week, we started studying poems ready for our next piece of writing. We looked at the different features of poetry and tried to find them within poems.

Highlights of the week:

In English this week, we finished looking at riddles and we all had a go at writing our own riddles. Some of the riddles are up in the library to see if other children can solve them. Towards the end of the week, we have been looking at instructional writing. We looked at how to use imperative verbs (bossy verbs) to make sure our instructions are clear. Next week, we are going to write instructions for ‘How to Dig Up and Preserve a Dinosaur’. We watched this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=20su_vqPZx4 and had a go at ‘digging up’ our own dinosaurs.
