We have had a fun final week before Christmas!
We hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and look forward to seeing you in the New Year!
● In English this week we have spent the week finishing our information leaflets about Tower Bridge. The leaflets are amazing and the children have worked so hard to research and find lots of information about Tower Bridge. The children will be bringing these leaflets home, so please do have a look at their incredible work!
● In Maths, we have had a week of ‘Mad Maths’. We have been revising the topics we have looked at this term. We have worked in small groups to really focus on the different areas we found tricky.
● This week in Phonics we have been recapping all of the sounds we have learned this term. We started the week with a game of Phonics Bingo! Then we wrote speech bubbles from Father Christmas, using the Year 2 common exception words we have looked at. We enjoyed being creative with the words we can use. We then worked as a whole class to complete the Mystery Cookie Crime! This involved us having to use our knowledge of spelling rules, punctuation and grammar. We finished the week by making a poster to round up all of our learning.
● In RE we have been looking at ‘light’. We have learned about different celebrations that use light, such as Hanukkah and Advent. We created our own Advent wreaths using our hand prints. It was a really simple and effective design.
● Please make sure you are reading with your child at least four times a week and commenting on their reading in their reading record book. Please can reading records stay in your child's book bag.
● Please support your child to access Numbots online. It is recommended that children play Numbots for 10 minutes a day for maximum impact.
● Spellings are sent home on Monday’s for the text on Friday. Please can you practise these with your child throughout the week.
● Thursday 5th January- Sea City Museum Trip. Please can you make sure you have filled in the Google form for permission for your child to attend.
