After our Jigsaw session on ‘Our Learning Charter’ we discussed how we all have a part to play in the classroom. We have 30 different monitor roles which are essential in the classroom! We then got to sign up for a role and that is our responsibility in the class. We have discovered that we all need to do our role for the classroom to work. We also have a class dojo. This cute ‘monster’ keeps track of our dojo points we collect as the week goes on. We can get points for helping others, being on task, showing determination and teamwork.
This week we have been planning and writing our free verse poems in English. We used our imaginations to plan the ingredients, then we described these with expanded noun phrases. This gave us specific details which helped others imagine our medicines as we have. We made our very own book of poems and are very proud of the outcome.
We have been focused on counting in 2s, 5s, 10s and 3s in Maths. We have enjoyed recapping our learning from last year and progressing in our counting.
Phonics has focused on the alternative spellings for the /w/ sound (wh) and the /ee/ sound (ea). We looked at the spellings of these words and had some fun drawing different pictures to help us remember some homophones (see and sea).
In Art this week we have been looking at Sir Quentin Blake. We found out some interesting facts about him and made fact files. We then explored his style of drawing by having a go ourselves. We focused on an ingredient we had used in our poems which we loved as it gave us the opportunity to be illustrators for our own poems.
In Computing we are now experts at logging in and setting up. We have continued to look at online safety and this week we tried rating child friendly websites. I wonder if your child can remember the sites they had to visit?
