We have been looking at lift-the-flap books this week as a different way authors provide information to us. We thought this was quite an exciting way of learning something new and so we designed our own class information page about castles using a lift-the-flap style.
In Maths, we have been looking at groups of numbers. For example, if we put 3 hoops on the floor and put 5 cubes in each hoop, we have 3 groups of 5. We will continue to work on this for the next few weeks as part of our multiplication unit.
We will be revising sounds the children need to further consolidate during the next half term in preparation for the phonics screening check. This week we have been looking at the letter groups ‘ir’, ‘oy’ and ‘oi’.
In Jigsaw, we have been learning what it means to be a good friend.
We found out more about England this week during Geography. The children talked more about London and told us what they knew about the city. The children shared about the different places they have visited in England and described whether it was hilly or by the seaside. We are enjoying learning all about the UK.
After exploring the way we make sounds using the recorder last Friday, this week we have been learning how to read and play the note B. We will be working towards a recorder concert for you in the second half of this term and will provide you with more details nearer the time.
