We will be sending a phonics sheet home to consolidate our learning from this week. We look forward to seeing all of your hard work next week.
We continued with our art project this week looking at different textures and colours to help us prepare our collage on Friday. We found out about primary and secondary colours and used these to help us make a colour wheel.
In maths we have continued our journey looking at place value within 20. We got to use the Dienes/Base 10 to support our learning in making teen numbers. We are still working on writing our numbers the right way as well as being able to spell the words of numbers to 20. This will be something we continue with into next term. You might want to see how we are getting on by asking us to write some of them at home.
In English we wrote up our information pages about Botley. We wrote a title and an introduction to tell the visitors of The Jolly Postman all of the wonderful things you can see and do in the area. We also used some of our information gathered from our history lessons to tell them a little bit about the past.
In computing this week we found out about emails and how to send them. We talked about how quick they are compared to using a post box with a letter and a stamp. We sent an email to Sam, our Thursday PE coach, as a year group to thank him for all of his hard work this term and to wish him a Happy Christmas.
On Friday, we got to meet Nick Sharratt in a live zoom call. He introduced us to his new story ‘Oh No! Shark in the Snow!’. We really enjoyed having the opportunity to meet a real author!
Please make sure you are reading with your child at least four times a week and commenting on their reading in their reading record book.
Please support your child to access Numbots online. It is recommended that children play Numbots for 10 minutes a day for maximum impact.
