13th - 17th December

Highlights of the week:

The children have worked really hard this week. We have been busy rehearsing and performing our 'Big Little Navitiy' and on Monday we got to watch the year R children in their dress rehearsal.

In phonics this week we continued to look at the ‘ow’ sound recognising it as code for ‘ow’ as in ‘flow’ and ‘show’. The children spent time on their handwriting and started to look for patterns in where in the word they heard the sound.

We looked at the theme of journeys this week in RE. The children heard the story of Babushka who wanted to travel with the Wise Men to visit baby Jesus. The children then wrote about a journey they have taken and how they felt on that journey. We talked about how the Wise Men and Mary and Joseph might have felt travelling somewhere new.

We would like to finish this update by wishing you a happy and healthy Christmas break. The children have settled in and worked so hard this term we are all very proud of them. We look forward to seeing you in the New Year,

Home learning:

  • Please make sure you are reading with your child at least four times a week and commenting on their reading in their reading record book.
  • Please support your child to access Numbots online. It is recommended that children play Numbots for 10 minutes a day for maximum impact.
