11th - 15th July 2022

Highlights of the week:

Thank you to everyone who was able to attend and view our portrait gallery on Tuesday. The children enjoyed showing you all of the techniques they had learnt as part of their sketching journey. We hope you enjoy displaying them in your home.

In phonics we are introducing the children to the last sound in unit 6 ‘-re’ before they move into year two. This letter group can be found in the words theatre, centimetre and ogre.

We have been busy in maths this week completing an assessment for our new teachers before moving on to learning about time. The children will be talking about o’clock and half past this week.

In English, we have continued our hummingbird journey of learning. This week we have been learning about ode’s - a type of short poem that praises or celebrates something. The children will be generating a word bank later in the week to write their own ode next week.

For dance this week, we finished our unit with some barn dancing. The children have learnt how to do-si-do with a partner and have been really enjoying the different elements of dance they have learnt during this unit.

We completed our unit on Elizabeth I this week. The children had to look back on what they had learnt during the unit and decide who they would rather be, Elizabeth I or Elizabeth II.

Home learning:

  • Please make sure you are reading with your child at least four times a week and commenting on their reading in their reading record book.
  • Please support your child to access Numbots online. It is recommended that children play Numbots for 10 minutes a day for maximum impact.
